2010 Wilcox Alumni 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament - June 26
Must be a graduate of Wilcox or Wilcox/Hildreth Public
Schools. 2010 grads are eligible.
A coin flip will determine which team has starting
possession in all games including overtime.
All games will be self-officiated by the players in the game only. Fouls, traveling and all other infractions or violations are included.
Teams MUST wear like colored shirts. Simplest is for
all teams to bring a light & a dark shirt.
Each team must have a minimum of 3 players and a maximum of
4 players but may finish the game with less than 3 players. Each team must
select a team captain who will serve as the sole team spokesperson.
Game Length: The
first team to 15 (win by 2) wins or whoever is ahead after 20 mins.
The ball must be thrown in from the top of the court to
start play on each change of possession. In addition, an opposing team member
must check the ball prior to throwing the ball into play each time.
The offensive team must “pass
the ball in” before a shot is attempted (make one pass before a shot is
taken).
The Three Point Shot
is in affect and 2 points will be awarded for a shot made behind the arc and 1
point for any shot made on or within the arc.
Players will shoot free-throw attempts only when
fouled in the act of shooting and the basket is not made. The player
will be given 1 shot if a 1-point shot was attempted or 2 shots if a 2-point
shot was attempted. The ball will change possession on a made free throw, but
will be a live ball on a missed free throw.
Team fouls will be recorded. A bonus free throw will be awarded to the fouled player on
and after the 5th team foul. The
ball will change possession on a made free throw, but will be a live ball on a
missed free throw.
Time Outs: One per
team per game - duration 1 minute in length.
Substitutions:
Substitutions may be made after a basket or any stoppage of play.
On defensive
rebounds (including airballs) and steals, the ball must be passed or dribbled
beyond the arc, both feet must be beyond the arc. The ball does not need to be
given to a different player. As long as the ball goes beyond the arc, there are
no limitations on who can shoot it.
Alternating possession on all jump ball situations will be in affect.
Out-Of-Bounds. If the ball goes out-of-bounds the offensive team must check the
ball with the defensive team at the top of the key.
If the score is tied at the end of regulation time an
overtime period will be played. A 5-minute overtime period will be played and
the team that is ahead after the 5 min. period wins. Consecutive overtimes will be played if necessary.
One 30 second timeout will be added in each overtime.
If there is enough interest, a women’s division will be played.
