Tournament Rules and Information

Must be at least 18 years old to play.

Entry fee will be $40 per team. Proceeds go to the Wilcox/Hildreth Athletic Fund.

Free throws will be shot to determine which team starts with possession in all games.

All games will be self-officiated by the players in the game only. Fouls, traveling and all other infractions or violations are included.

Players MUST wear like colored shirts. The simplest is to have each player bring a light and a dark colored shirt.

Each team must have a minimum of 3 players and a maximum of 5 players but may finish the game with less than 3 players. Each team must select a team captain who will serve as the sole team spokesperson.

Game Length: The first team to 15 (win by 2) wins or whoever is ahead after 15 mins.

The ball must be thrown in from the top of the court to start play on each change of possession. In addition, an opposing team member must check the ball prior to throwing the ball into play each time. The offensive team must "pass the ball in" before a shot is attempted (make one pass before a shot is taken).

No stalling at any time.

The Three Point Shot is in affect and 2 points will be awarded for a shot made behind the arc and 1 point for any shot made on or within the arc.

Players will shoot free-throw attempts only when fouled in the act of shooting and the basket is not made. The player will be given 1 shot if a 1-point shot was attempted or 2 shots if a 2-point shot was attempted. The ball will change possession on a made free throw, but will be a live ball on a missed free throw.

Team fouls will be recorded. A bonus free throw will be awarded to the fouled player on and after the 5th team foul. The ball will change possession on a made free throw, but will be a live ball on a missed free throw.

Time Outs: One per team per game - duration 1 minute in length.

Substitutions: Substitutions may be made after a basket or any stoppage of play.

On defensive rebounds (including airballs) and steals, the ball must be passed or dribbled beyond the arc, both feet must be beyond the arc. The ball does not need to be given to a different player. As long as the ball goes beyond the arc, there are no limitations on who can shoot it.

Jump Balls: All jump balls become the possession of the defensive team.

Out-Of-Bounds. If the ball goes out-of-bounds the offensive team must check the ball with the defensive team at the top of the key.

If the score is tied at the end of regulation time an overtime period will be played. A 5-minute overtime period will be played and the team that is ahead after the 5 min. period wins. Consecutive overtimes will be played if necessary. One 30 second timeout will be added in each overtime.
